Monday holidays are covered by the previous week call, with the exception of day after Christmas and day after New Years.

 

Note, each holiday has primary and secondary call fellows, with additional fellows staffing hospitals not on vacation. If the work load is light, one or both of the VA/SCR fellows may be sent home early, but we’ll have to play it by ear.   

 

On call fellow covers all hospitals on vacation, ie anything with an X.  See Columbus day:   WC is on call and covers VA on Monday with call staff.  AT is 2nd call but is scheduled to work at Hillcrest.

 

Everyone has 1 primary call, 1 secondary call, and 2-3 working holidays.  Exceptions-- TC has 2 primary calls (Cesar Chavez is really only UH call plus some Thornton).    CC has 2 secondary calls.

 

UH, Thornton, VA, and Scripps are the only rotations covered by fellows on holidays.  If you are scheduled on spine during a vacation week, please contact Dr. Wade Wong and discuss his case schedule with him.  If he needs coverage, I’m sure we can arrange something. Otherwise, navy, peds and spine will not be covered on holidays.

 

Please review attending holiday schedule and contact attending prior to your scheduled holiday to coordinate read out, etc.
